Hi everyone - my team is looking to enhance our content governance and dependency management using Seismic.
Here’s an example of what I mean:
Currently, when we publish a new version of a Data Source, we need to know every downstream Reference Slide and LiveDoc that references the old version so we can update them. Right now the only way we've found to do this is clicking into each object individually in the UI — which is slow, painful, doesn’t scale, and leaves us open to manual error.
We would prefer to set up queries/alerting for several rules - for instance, downstream Reference Slides/LiveDocs should never be using outdated versions of Data Sources. How can we accomplish this?
It seems like the Reporting API tables that come with the Snowflake Data Share aren’t meant for this purpose - I’ve searched through the tables but can’t find the necessary data points to create a dependency query.
After some more research, we haven't found any Integration or Library API endpoint that exposes the configured dependency graph either - i.e., "which version of a Data Source is wired into this Reference Slide or LiveDoc right now"?
Has anyone solved this? Curious if there's an endpoint we're missing, a workaround using the Reporting API, or whether others have raised this with Seismic as a product gap.
This seems like a simple feature that would be necessary for any team looking to scale their Seismic usage.
Thanks!!!
